The article describes the steps you need to take to set up and run a linux host on RackSpace linux hosting.
This article assumes that you are already familiar with linux and have a good understanding of how to configure the linux system to work with Rackspace.

This section explains what the Rackspace Linux package looks like, what to do if you get an error, and how to fix it.
If your host is not running the RHEL or CentOS kernel, you will need to add your host to the boot-loaders list of the rhel bootloader (i.e. rhel-linux-bootloader is installed and can be added to boot loaders via the command line).
You will need a different name for each host, which can be done by running rheladd -s hostname.
For example, if you are using a linux machine on a rhel machine, you would run rhel add hostname LinuxRouter.
If you are adding a linux box to a host that is already running the rbenv bootloader, you need rbenva install rbenvar.
The first step is to create a new bootloader in the bootloader manager.
If your host has not been upgraded to the RHYME kernel, this will create a bootloader named rhelbootloader-5.4.3.
For CentOS 7, the bootloaders will be named rhbootloader.
For RHEL, they will be called rhebootloader and rhsbootloader respectively.
The bootloader manager can be found in the rh bootloader management.
Once you have created a bootloadable bootloader for your host, run the rsh bootloader command to boot the host.
Once the boot loader has been successfully loaded, you should be able to access the host with the standard interface (such as the network) by typing the following command:This will prompt you to log in to the host by typing your username and password:The host will be able now to access your computer and you can run the host commands.
For instance, you could run the following:This would launch a command prompt to run a command and print some information about the host (for example, the IP address and the number of virtual machines).
You can also use the host’s command line interface to access other hosts by typing:The command you type into the command prompt will then run the specified command in the console and the host will then be able send and receive commands using its standard command line interfaces.
The rsh command line client is one of the most powerful tools in Linux for the job, allowing you to execute commands on your host and access other computers on the network by typing commands from the host system.
The rsh client is also a great way to get started with Linux as it allows you to use any shell to execute arbitrary commands.
If the command you are typing in the command shell doesn’t match the shell on the host, you might need to modify the host shell to run it.
